The strategy to promote the consumption of fishery products in Mexico was able to increase the intake of this type of inputs at a national level by only three kilos per capita in just four years. This fact was recognized by producers in the Republic of Chile, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA).
The institutions, such as the Mexican Council for the Promotion of Fishery and Aquaculture Products (COMEPESCA) and the organizations of fishery producers, were highlighted by the institutionalization, coordination and joint work carried out by CONAPESCA.
The National Commission for Aquaculture and Fisheries (CONAPESCA), a body of the SAGARPA, stressed that the strategy to promote the consumption of fishery products was described as successful by the president of the National Fisheries Society of Chile (SONAPESCA), Osciel Velázquez.
This was during a meeting between the head of CONAPESCA, Mario Aguilar Sánchez and the representative of the Chilean fishermen where they exchanged experiences in the promotion of fish consumption.
The representative of fishermen of Chile, said that “the results they have obtained speak for themselves; Having grown three kilograms per capita in a country with 120 million inhabitants is a tremendous achievement. “
