The fisheries sector has been one of the beneficiaries of the programs and actions during the last two years of government, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA).
The federal agency explains in a statement that the greater allocation of resources for fisheries and aquaculture infrastructure as well as for the modernization of the fishing fleet in support of productive activity has contributed to guarantee a better quality of life for fishermen and their families .
This year, the federal government implemented the Direct Fishing Support Program (Propesca), which has doubled the original budget to 100 million pesos (mdp), benefiting 11,250 fishermen from all over the country, With which they have faced the months of closure of their main fishery on which they depend.
